Abraham John Architects, since 1967

​Abraham John Architects was founded in Mumbai in 1967 by Abraham John. More than five decades on, the practice is led by Abraham John, Alan Abraham and Anca Florescu Abraham, bringing together architecture, interiors, landscape and urban design within a single studio.

Our work ranges from private villas and residences to boutique interiors, hospitality and institutional buildings, in India and internationally, including restaurants in New York and a chalet in Verbier, Switzerland. Each project begins with its site and climate. We work with landscape, natural light and natural materials, and we resolve building, interior and garden as one whole rather than as separate commissions.

The practice has been named in the Architectural Digest AD100 every year from 2019 to 2025, and has received the Architecture Master Prize, the International Property Awards and the EDRA Great Places Award, among other recognition.​

Through Bombay Greenway, its urban design and research arm, the practice develops proposals for Mumbai's public spaces, streets and open-space networks, from neighbourhood parks to city-scale routes.

Its principals also lecture, teach and serve on juries across India.
